Battery and Gas Canister Safety and Usage Guidelines
Legal Notice
By purchasing, using, or handling any of the batteries, chargers, or gas canisters available through Air Sporting Goods, you agree that you have read, understood, and accepted the safety guidelines and legal disclaimers outlined below. You acknowledge that you bear full responsibility for these risks and agree to release Air Sporting Goods, its owners, employees, affiliates, and distributors from any liability related to accidents, injuries, or damages that may occur.
General Battery Safety Guidelines
- Battery Types: We offer a range of battery types, including Lithium-ion (Li-ion), Lithium Polymer (LiPo), Nickel-Metal Hydride (NiMH), and Nickel-Cadmium (NiCd) batteries. Each type requires specific handling, charging, and storage procedures. Always read and follow the instructions provided with your specific battery type.
- Correct Charger Use: Only use chargers specifically designed for the type of battery you are charging. For example, do not use a NiCd/NiMH charger to charge Li-ion/LiPo batteries. Using an incorrect charger may result in battery damage, fire, or explosion.
- Inspection: Always inspect batteries before charging or use. Do not use or charge batteries that show signs of damage, swelling, or deformity.
- Charging Time: Do not charge batteries overnight. For standard airsoft batteries, the recommended charging time is approximately 2 hours. Overcharging can lead to battery damage or fire. Always monitor the charging process and do not exceed the recommended charging duration.
- Fire Safety: Charge all batteries in a fireproof container and away from combustible materials. Avoid charging batteries on flammable surfaces such as wood, cloth, or carpet.
- Unattended Charging: Never leave batteries charging unattended. Always monitor the charging process and be prepared to react to any potential issues.
LiPo and Li-ion Battery Specific Warnings
- Overcharging and Overdischarging: Avoid overcharging or overdischarging Li-ion/LiPo batteries. Overcharging can lead to fire, while overdischarging can cause permanent battery damage. Ensure your charger has a built-in protection circuit board (PCB) to prevent these issues.
- Temperature Control: Charge and store batteries within the recommended temperature ranges (32°F to 113°F for charging, 32°F to 140°F for discharging). Never expose batteries to temperatures exceeding these limits, as it may cause them to overheat and become hazardous.
- Storage Precautions: Store Li-ion/LiPo batteries in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight or heat sources. Never store fully charged batteries for extended periods; discharge them to 50-60% capacity before long-term storage to avoid battery degradation.
- Proper Disposal: Dispose of Li-ion/LiPo batteries in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations. Use facilities that specialize in battery recycling to prevent environmental contamination.
NiMH Battery Guidelines
- Charging: Use a smart charger designed for NiMH batteries. Follow the recommended charging time, usually around 2 hours, and never charge overnight. Overcharging can reduce battery life and performance.
- Safe Storage: Store NiMH batteries in a cool, dry place. Avoid storing them fully charged or completely discharged for extended periods.
- Handling: Handle NiMH batteries carefully to avoid short circuits, which can result in fire or explosion.
CO2 and Green Gas Canister Warnings
- Pressurized Gas Safety: CO2 and green gas canisters are pressurized and must be handled with care. Do not expose canisters to heat, puncture, or attempt to refill them unless specifically designed for refilling.
- Safe Storage: Store gas canisters in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight or heat sources. Never store canisters in temperatures exceeding 120°F, as this could cause them to rupture.
- Usage Guidelines: Always follow the manufacturer's instructions when using gas canisters in airsoft guns or other devices. Improper use can result in injury or damage to equipment.
